The Problem: Ventura Elementary School, serving 918 students in grades PK through 5 in Kissimmee, had a Tigers mascot that had served the school well for many years but was showing its age. The existing tiger character was cute and fun but lacked the simplicity and boldness needed for modern school branding applications. The complex, detailed artwork did not reproduce well across spirit wear, signage, and digital platforms. While students and families had a connection to the Tigers identity, the execution of the logo no longer met the standards expected in the Osceola County School District.

The Impact: The outdated tiger design limited the school’s ability to produce professional-quality merchandise and campus signage. The character’s complexity made vendor reproduction inconsistent, resulting in different versions of the tiger appearing across various school materials. Ventura’s visual presence did not stand out among competing elementary schools in the district, despite the school’s strong academic performance in math and reading proficiency.

Strategic Approach

Our approach honored the school’s existing Tigers tradition while delivering the modern upgrade that Ventura needed. We studied the original tiger character to understand what students and families connected with, then identified opportunities to simplify and strengthen those elements. The goal was to carry the spirit of the old logo forward while bringing the school’s visual identity into a professional standard that would set Ventura apart.
