Neptune Middle School
Location
Kissimmee, Florida (Osceola County School District)
The Challenge
The Problem: Neptune Middle School, a grades 6-8 public school in Kissimmee focused on leadership development and student empowerment, lacked a cohesive brand identity that captured the school’s strength and vision for student achievement. The existing visual presence was inconsistent across campus communications, athletic programs, and leadership initiatives. Without a unified Seahawks identity, the school’s commitment to building confident, capable young leaders was not reflected in the way students and families experienced the campus.
The Impact: Without a professional brand system, Neptune Middle struggled to project the confidence and competitive spirit that middle school students respond to. Athletic programs operated without unified visual branding, and leadership initiatives lacked a strong visual anchor. Spirit wear options were limited by the absence of professional artwork, and the campus offered no bold, branded signage that would communicate the school’s identity to the broader Kissimmee community.
Our Task
Develop a complete Seahawks brand identity system that would:
- Create a powerful Seahawks mascot that resonates with grades 6-8 students
- Communicate leadership, confidence, and achievement potential through every touchpoint
- Unify academic, athletic, and leadership programs under one visual identity
- Work across campus signage, athletic uniforms, spirit wear, and administrative materials
- Establish a distinctive presence within the Osceola County district
Strategic Approach
Our research into middle school branding revealed the importance of creating identities that respect the developmental transition of adolescent students, balancing strength and aspiration with accessibility. The visual system needed to project maturity without feeling corporate, and energy without feeling childish. The seahawk was selected because it represents vision, leadership, and keen perception, all qualities central to Neptune’s focus on student development. The “sea” prefix creates a natural connection to the “Neptune” school name, tying the mascot directly to the school’s identity.
The profile seahawk head was designed to create a strong, immediately recognizable silhouette that works across athletic helmets, jerseys, and shield-format crests. The combination of maritime and avian elements offers rich visual territory for both academic and competitive contexts.
The color palette of gold, black, and silver was strategically chosen to project confidence and achievement through the dominant gold tones while adding sophistication and strength through contrasting black. The silver accents provide distinction and premium positioning, creating an aesthetic that appeals to middle school students’ desire for maturity while standing apart from other schools in the district.
Design Development
The Seahawks crest features a striking profile seahawk head positioned within a shield-inspired framework, designed for immediate recognition at both large scale (gymnasium walls, stadium signage) and small scale (embroidery, document headers). The “NEPTUNE MIDDLE SCHOOL” designation anchors the top of the composition with the bold “SEAHAWKS” wordmark below, creating a balanced hierarchy with strong visual impact.
The system was deployed across six primary touchpoints:
- Athletic uniforms: Jerseys, warm-ups, and game-day gear featuring the Seahawks crest
- Campus signage: Exterior and interior identification for community-facing visibility
- Spirit wear: Hoodies, t-shirts, caps, and accessories with brand-consistent artwork
- Leadership programs: Certificates, awards, and materials for student leadership initiatives
- Administrative materials: Letterhead, folders, and official school communications
- Digital platforms: Website, social media, and digital communications with unified branding
Results
The Seahawks identity gave Neptune Middle School a confident, unified brand that matches the school’s commitment to leadership development and student achievement. The professional crest system brought cohesion to athletic programs, leadership initiatives, and campus communications for the first time. Students responded to the bold, mature aesthetic, and the gold-and-black palette created a distinctive presence that stands out at district events and inter-school competitions. The brand strengthened school pride and gave Neptune Middle a recognizable identity within the Kissimmee community.
