Background: Serving grades 6-8, Horizon Middle School lacked cohesive branding that captured their forward-thinking philosophy of helping students reach their potential.
Our Task: Create an identity symbolizing growth, exploration, and forward momentum appropriate for the critical middle school years.
Our Action: Designed a dynamic crest emphasizing upward trajectory and aspiration, engineered for campus signage, spirit wear, and athletics.
Outcome: Identity deployed across facades, apparel, PE gear, corridors. Visual language now reflects school’s mission of helping students explore their horizons.
Design Development
The design approach focused on capturing the concept of “reaching horizons” and unlimited potential that defines the school’s educational mission. The mascot and visual elements were developed to inspire students during the pivotal middle school years, incorporating symbols of growth, exploration, and achievement that would resonate with adolescents.
The identity system balances youthful energy with academic sophistication, using dynamic visual elements that reflect the school’s commitment to helping students discover their capabilities. Color choices and typography were selected to appeal to middle school students while projecting the educational excellence and supportive environment that characterizes Horizon’s approach.
The design emphasizes forward movement and aspiration, creating a visual language that supports the school’s mission of encouraging students to reach their full potential across all areas of their educational experience.
