Horizon Middle School serves the Kissimmee community as part of the Osceola County School District, providing education for students in grades 6-8 during the critical transitional years between elementary and high school. The school has built a strong reputation for encouraging students to reach their full potential through a comprehensive, well-rounded curriculum that balances academic rigor with character development.
As enrollment grew and the school expanded its program offerings, Horizon’s administration recognized the need for a distinctive visual identity that would capture their forward-thinking educational philosophy while building stronger school pride and recognition among students navigating the challenging middle school years.

Design Development
The design approach focused on capturing the concept of “reaching horizons” and unlimited potential that defines the school’s educational mission. The mascot and visual elements were developed to inspire students during the pivotal middle school years, incorporating symbols of growth, exploration, and achievement that would resonate with adolescents.
The identity system balances youthful energy with academic sophistication, using dynamic visual elements that reflect the school’s commitment to helping students discover their capabilities. Color choices and typography were selected to appeal to middle school students while projecting the educational excellence and supportive environment that characterizes Horizon’s approach.
The design emphasizes forward movement and aspiration, creating a visual language that supports the school’s mission of encouraging students to reach their full potential across all areas of their educational experience.
