The Challenge

Boggy Creek Elementary had used a DIY logo for years. While the mascot, a manatee, was beloved, the design felt dated and lacked consistency. It didn’t scale well. It didn’t work on merchandise. And it didn’t give the school a unified visual identity that kids could rally behind.

The school needed a clean, professional, and kid-friendly mascot logo that stayed true to the original spirit but could work across signs, shirts, folders, and more.

The Strategy

We knew we needed to:

  • Keep the Manatee as the central mascot

  • Create a clean logo that works for signage, embroidery, and digital

  • Make it bold enough to stand out but soft enough for elementary-age students

  • Develop a flexible identity system with both full logo lockups and standalone mascot graphics

We also wanted to give the school something that felt custom—not just another off-the-shelf cartoon mascot.

The Logo Design

The new mascot is approachable, confident, and unmistakably a Manatee—friendly but not silly. We chose strong, collegiate lettering for the school name to add legitimacy and pride while preserving youth appeal through rounded edges and open spacing.

The word “ELEMENTARY” sits in a blue tab for instant grade-level clarity. And the circular badge gives the school room to add a tagline or school motto in the future.
