Client: Knights Point K-8
Location: Celebration, Florida
Project: Knights Brand Identity System

Knights Point K-8 serves the growing Celebration community in Osceola County, Florida, providing a continuous educational experience from kindergarten through eighth grade. As a relatively new addition to the district, Knights Point needed a cohesive visual identity that would establish their presence while embodying their commitment to academic rigor, leadership development, and student engagement.

The school approached our agency to develop a distinctive Knights-themed identity system that would resonate across their wide student age range while fostering unity and school pride.

Through collaboration with school leadership, we established several focused objectives:

  • Create a knight mascot with tiered applications appropriate for K-8 age range
  • Develop a visual identity embodying leadership, excellence, and character
  • Design a system that unifies elementary and middle school programs
  • Establish immediate recognition within the Osceola County School District
  • Build school pride and community identification from the school’s inception

Strategic Approach

Our research revealed key insights that informed our design direction:

  1. K-8 schools face unique identity challenges, requiring systems that:
    • Appeal to a wide developmental range (5-14 years)
    • Create unified culture across traditionally separate educational stages
    • Maintain relevance as students progress through multiple developmental phases
    • Support both elementary and middle school educational contexts
  2. Knight symbolism offers rich territory for educational applications, representing:
    • Character and honor (values-based education)
    • Preparation and readiness (academic rigor)
    • Protection and service (community responsibility)
    • Historical tradition (educational foundation)
  3. Successful K-8 identities establish continuity while acknowledging developmental differences, often through tiered applications that adjust presentation while maintaining core elements.
  4. Celebration’s distinctive community character—with its emphasis on traditional design and community values—provides important context for a school identity that will serve as a community focal point.

These insights guided our development of a Knights identity that would serve students throughout their K-8 journey while establishing Knights Point as a distinctive presence in Celebration.

Design Development

Core Identity Elements

The Knights Point identity features several strategic components:

  • Knight Figure: A distinctive knight in profile creates strong visual impact while embodying concepts of leadership, preparedness, and character—values central to the school’s educational mission.
  • Shield Integration: The shield element provides structure while reinforcing protection, tradition, and achievement themes. Its compartmentalized design allows for symbolic elements that support educational messaging.
  • Color System: A rich palette centered on deep blue, metallic silver, and accent colors creates a distinctive yet timeless presence appropriate for both elementary and middle school applications.
  • Typography Hierarchy: Clean, contemporary letterforms ensure legibility while providing flexibility across applications ranging from early childhood materials to middle school communications.
  • Dual Presentation Options: The system includes both traditional and contemporary presentations of the knight theme, allowing appropriate application across different age groups and contexts.

K-8 Specific Applications

The identity was developed with specialized considerations for the K-8 environment:

Elementary Program Applications (K-5)

  • Simplified knight rendering for younger students
  • Character education connections emphasizing knight virtues
  • Classroom identification and recognition systems
  • Age-appropriate spirit elements and celebrations

Middle School Applications (6-8)

  • More detailed knight presentation for older students
  • Leadership and excellence program connections
  • Athletic and competition applications
  • Student government and responsibility initiatives

School-Wide Unification

  • Consistent core elements across all grades
  • Shared traditions and recognition systems
  • Environmental applications that create cohesive experience
  • Community-facing applications that present unified identity

Design Considerations

Several key factors influenced our design decisions:

Developmental Appropriateness
The system acknowledges significant developmental differences between kindergarteners and eighth graders through thoughtful application variations while maintaining core brand recognition.

Educational Symbolism
Knight imagery connects naturally to character education, leadership development, and academic excellence—supporting Knights Point’s educational priorities.

Community Context
The design respects Celebration’s distinctive community character while establishing Knights Point as a forward-looking educational institution.

Growth Consideration
As a new school, the identity was designed to establish immediate recognition while allowing for evolution as the school develops its culture and traditions.

The resulting identity system provides Knights Point K-8 with a distinctive knight-themed presence that effectively bridges elementary and middle school experiences while supporting their educational mission and community connection.
